ok, there are thousands of factories (and cars..etc…) putting out carbon dioxide. Quite a bit of it.At the same time, millions of acres of oxygen producing plants are destroyed every year. this causes an imbalance. also, this thickens the atmosphere. i repeat, carbon emissions thicken the atmosphere. the suns uv rays and whatnot shoot at the earth and bounce off. when the atmosphere gets thicker, more rays stay trapped inside, causing a rise in temperature everywhere, but particulary at the poles. which have lots of ice. ice melts. seas rise. al gore makes a power point. i get called a hippie a lot.
